US drops Covid test requirement for international travellers

The Biden administration is dropping Covid-19 testing requirements for air travellers arriving from abroad, the White House announced on Friday. Deputy Press Secretary Kevin Munoz confirmed that the Biden administration would end the requirement.

Airlines and other members of the travel industry have repeatedly called for the requirement to be dropped, arguing it hurts demand for international travel.

Travellers entering the United States at land border crossings were already exempt.

The change will take effect this Sunday, June 12 at 12:01 a.m.
