{"id":26028,"date":"2022-09-26T11:15:41","date_gmt":"2022-09-26T15:15:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/home.yulair.com\/?p=26028"},"modified":"2022-09-26T13:09:21","modified_gmt":"2022-09-26T17:09:21","slug":"the-government-of-canada-will-lift-all-border-and-travel-measures","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/home.yulair.com\/?p=26028&lang=en","title":{"rendered":"The Government of Canada will lift all border and travel measures"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Effective October 1, 2022, all travellers, regardless of citizenship, will no longer have to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>submit public health information through the ArriveCAN app or website;<\/li><li>provide proof of vaccination;<\/li><li>undergo pre- or on-arrival testing;<\/li><li>carry out COVID-19-related quarantine or isolation;<\/li><li>monitor and report if they develop signs or symptoms of COVID-19 upon arriving to Canada.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Transport Canada is also removing existing travel requirements. As of October 1, 2022, travellers will no longer be required to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>undergo health checks for travel on air and rail;&nbsp;or<\/li><li>wear masks on planes and trains.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Have the measures been effective?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the Government of Canada, the measures have mitigated the magnitude of the potential impact of COVID-19 on travelers and transportation workers, and provided broad protection to our communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But according to a report called &#8220;<em><strong>Evaluating Canada&#8217;s Pandemic Border and Travel Policies: Lessons Learned<\/strong><\/em>&#8221; authored by four Canadian physicians specializing in infectious disease management who assessed the incidence and effectiveness of border measures and other travel restrictions introduced by the Canadian government to manage the pandemic. The report concludes the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Border measures have been largely ineffective at stopping Variants of Concern<\/strong>\u00a0from entering and spreading across\u00a0Canada\u00a0and are unlikely to be effective in the future. At best, travel restrictions are estimated to delay the impact of a variant of concern by a few days<\/li><li>There\u00a0<strong>is no convincing evidence that pre-departure and on-arrival testing and surveillance have had a significant impact on local transmission<\/strong>\u00a0in Canadian communities<\/li><li>Tr<strong>avel-related testing is ineffective in identifying COVID-19 cases and preventing the spread of the virus<\/strong>\u00a0and should no longer be imposed.
